More from John B-S

Greetings Bloggers

It was great to be back on Radio Verulam 92.6 and I must say I did rather a fine show on Thursday. (26th March) Music tracks included Survivor, Tina Turner, Steely Dan, Ian Dury & the Blockheads, the Clash, the Troggs, Flock of Seagulls, Free not to mention current hits from Shena (wonderful disco song, a real throwback to the 70s), Sugarland (catchy but very annoying), Paul Carrack (who I have met) , Pet Shop Boys and Snow Patrol. Diana Ross celebrated a birthday as did Teddy Pendergrass and one of the girls from the Human League. I also played an album track from Elton John and a wonderful reggae version of Love Me For A Reason by the Fabulous Five. The idea is to play a wide selection of the best music, community favourites, classic hits and album tracks and the best of the new.
In the news, city workers in London have been warned not to wear business suits on Saturday as they may become a target for demo protesters. I'm still bothered about the politicians claiming all those expenses not to mention those bankers with enormous pensions! On the lighter side, Fern Britton announced she was leaving 'This Morning' on ITV, because Philip Schofield is paid a lot more than her while BBC Breakfast presenter Kate Silverton was upset because her (male) colleague was making fun of her frumpy blouse!
There was some local news, what's on/entertainment and in sport we looked ahead to the Formula 1 in Australia (how will Stevenage lad Lewis Hamilton get on?) and the Boat Race on Sunday. I got into a bit of a muddle on the travel news at 6.30, and met Lydia and her friend who were coming in live to do an Irish show (the Emerald Hour - Thursdays at 7pm.) They talked about Ireland winning the Six Nations Rugby.
If you have any ideas about what you would like to hear on these shows whether it's music or things to talk about please let us know. You can leave a message here, email studio@radioverulam.com or phone 01727 839926 when we are on the air.
Don't forget Danny is with you 3 days a week, I'll be back again, Tuesday and Thursday at 4pm.

Cheers

John B-S
