New Ridiculously Difficult Music Question

Hi Bloggers

Thanks to Rob from St Albans (he correctly answered the previous question) we have a brand spanking new question for you:

Who provided backing vocals on Bruce Willis' 1987 No. 2 hit "Under The Boardwalk"?

If you think you know the answer and you would like to win a CD for your troubles, listen out for the competition at approx 4.15pm & 6.15pm daily.

Interview with Elizabeth from St Albans Citizens Advice Bureau

Hi everyone,

On the show today we heard from Elizabeth from the St Albans Citizens Advice Bureau.

Elizabeth started off by pointing out that about 3 million people fall victim to scams each year. Be on your guard - never send money to anyone you don't know and never give your bank details out. If in doubt you can contact Consumer Direct on 0845 404 0506 or contact the Citizens Advice Bureau.

The next topic was fuel bills. With this the coldest winter for 30 years it's advised that we try and budget for our fuel bills and also check our bills carefully. If you get an estimated bill you can always give your supplier a meter reading and they can then change your bill. It's also possible to change supplier to get a better tariff. Some suppliers also have a social tariff which is for people on certain benefits. And remember, if you're over 60 years of age you'll get winter fuel payments, and those on certain benefits will qualify for cold weather payments.

The last subject was about a new scheme called the Home Access Scheme which enables some families to buy a home computer and get a years internet access for free. You need to be a family with a child in school years 3-9 and be on certain benfits to qualify. For more information call 0333 200 1004 for an application form. You'll need to act quickly as the scheme is only for the first 270,000 applicants.

For more information on anything that Elizabeth covered and anything else you need advice on, you can call into the Bureau at 64 London Road, St Albans, or give them a call on 01727 855269, or visit www.adviceguide.org.uk

On Today's Show - Get Involved & Sleep Easy!

Hi Bloggers

On today's show we heard from Mary Green, who was calling from an organisation called V Involved. This is a government scheme to encourage young people to volunteer in their local communities. She also told us about an event called Sleep-Easy taking place next week and below is a message from Mary with more details:

Sleep-Easy - Friday 26th February, from 7pm to 7am on Saturday, at Vicarage Road Stadium. It's a sponsored sleep-out toraise funds for Watford YMCA and raise awareness of homelessness. The 'rough sleepers' will sleep in the Rookery End concourse, so it will be a totally safe enclosed environment, with no rain or snow falling on us, but it will be COLD!

There will be music, hot drinks and snacks(courtesy of Starbucks, Clas Ohlson, Sainsburys throughout the night, a story-teller, and a Best Dressed Cardboard Box competition, with boxes donated by Blue Box Storage and a prize donated by John Lewis.

People wishing to volunteer for this challenge shoudl visit the website at www.vinvolvedherts.com, or ring me on my mobile - 07989 502269; or email me at marygreen@watfordymca.com. We will provide a sponsorship form and a list of advice and instructions about what to bring etc.

Thank you very much and hope to see lots of volunteers at the Sleep Easy!!!

Best wishes,

Mary Green
